You'd think that as "that dude who's always reading," Aoi-sama would hang out in the school library more often. He sniffs, an act you're sure he does because rolling his eyes would be gauche. He would never deign to set foot in a so-called library that doesn't even stock In Search of Lost Time in the original French. You're lucky he's deigning to even talk to you, let alone help you with this exceedingly simple literature exam.

How to Play

What exactly counts as "literature" is a pretty nebulous definition in my experience. I enjoyed and understood the merit of plenty of the "great works" we studied in school (The Great Gatsby is my favorite book of all time), but others left me cold. I'm sure it's the same for all of us; my sister, who read literally every book ever assigned for a class, eventually gave up on Wuthering Heights and just watched the the movie instead.

That said, I think we can safely agree that most light novels aren't exactly capital-L literature. What they might lack in literary sensibilities, though, they more than make up for in crazy long, hilariously weird titles. Check out these recent series for some examples. I think my favorite is "I've Been Reborn as an Aristocratic Pig, So This Time I Want to Tell You I Like You."

What if all anime/manga/game series had titles like those? Well, in this game, they do! Listed below are five potential new titles for existing series done in the style of light novel titles. You must figure out what series the titles are referencing. For example, "He's a Pigeon, But as Long as We're in Love It Shouldn't Matter" would be a light novel-style title for the game Hatoful Boyfriend, a pigeon dating simulator. Each correct answer will be worth 1 mark, for a maximum possible total of 5 marks towards your overall final average.
